    Dr. Jacoby,

Do the changes in SB 508 streamline the certificate of error process for districts? I've been flummoxed with the process of getting our EAV adjusted for ISBE's uses in the past few years. The fact that a school district has to request the county clerk fill out a certificate of error form and then pass that along to ISBE with a summary spreadsheet seems to unnecessarily involve the district when ISBE could just as easily get the data directly from the county clerks' offices.

I'm sure there is a reason the process has to work the way it does, but I hate the fact that SBOs across the state have to spend their time acting as a facilitator between two government agencies. Even worse, I believe some districts have an independent consultant take care of this for a fee, which takes away resources from the district for a task that doesn't really need the district's involvement at all.

Not any streamlining of normal reporting. Just covers the loss of revenue due to an error or other decision that reduces the extension. Just establishes a supplementary levy to recapture the loss.
