We are reaching out today with another urgent Call to Action regarding HB 3907 (Stuart; D-Collinsville) a bill that proposes mandating 45 minutes of uninterrupted, individual preparation time per day for all educators. Thanks in large part to collective advocacy efforts last week, the bill was not called for a hearing. Unfortunately, the bill is posted again for this week and may be called for a hearing in the House Elementary and Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing & Charter Schools Committee on Thursday, April 11th, at 2:00pm.

We received a number of questions about the bill last week, so we believe it is important to note that, as written, the bill would prohibit the requiring of teachers to substitute, or attend any meetings during their scheduled prep time. This would include collaborative team meetings such as Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.

If your district stands to be affected by this legislation, please use this link to file your OPPONENT slip.

Thank you, as always, for your advocacy efforts!
