Additional Advocacy Stakeholders

ED-RED
ED-RED includes 13 high school districts, 64 elementary school districts, two unit districts, two Special Education Cooperatives and three Intermediate Service Centers in Cook and Lake Counties.

Large Unit District Association (LUDA)
The IEA is an association of more than 135,000 members composed of Illinois elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty and staff, educational support professionals, retired educators and college students preparing to become teachers.

Legislative Education Network of DuPage (LEND)
The mission of LEND is to identify, inform, and influence legislation and regulations that impact students and school communities of DuPage County.

South Cooperative Organization for Public Education (SCOPE)
Founded in 1987, SCOPE is a group of public school districts who came together to join forces for better representation for public schools in south suburban Cook County. In 1996, membership was extended to school districts in neighboring Will County with similar interests.

Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE)

IAASE is a non-profit special education administrator organization that promotes educational opportunities for all students with an emphasis on students with disabilities.

Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS)
IARSS supports the role of Regional Superintendents of Schools and Assistant Regional Superintendents and of Regional Offices of Education in Illinois.

How These Partnerships Work
Illinois ASBO Executive Director/CEO Dr. Jacoby speaks at meetings for each of these stakeholder groups periodically and engages with the executive directors of each group on larger issues. Executive directors of these organizations typically are complementary members of Illinois ASBO, attend the Illinois ASBO Annual Conference and several have a liaison to the Illinois ASBO Board of Directors.

Benefit to Illinois ASBO Members
  • Provides a bigger umbrella of support when the Alliance is trying to pass legislation.
  • Helps bring clarity to issues and the impact on smaller groups of districts.
  • A communication channel to Illinois ASBO members through board liaison relationships.
