  • 1.  Proposed pension savings in budget

Saw this on Capital Fax about how the state will save millions on the Pension system.  It may create some positive negotiating for a district if they want to Lock in for a longer contract... I would wonder if a contract was adopted prior to the 2019 date if it would be grandfathered and allow the 6% raises and not revert to the 3% max raises prior to retirement.

    Hi Barry,

Thank you for the documentation.  Everything I have read stated either the change from 6% to 3% either took effect the day the governor signed it, or July 1st.  I am also curious if the 2019 day will come into play.  Our teacher's contract expires June 2020.  If the 2019 date comes into play, it maybe time to see if they want to renegotiate in a hurry so the change does not come into play for awhile.  Please keep us informed of any information you find out Barry!  Thank you.
