We have an opportunity to make our voices heard and advocate for increased funding to the Evidence-Based Funding Model.

The Illinois State Board of Education recently shared it has scheduled four hearings across Illinois to gather community input on the state’s budget for public education.

We hope you can attend one of the hearings (listed below) and be an advocate for increased EBF because feedback and funding requests received will inform ISBE’s Fiscal Year 2021 public education budget recommendation it will submit to Gov. Pritzker and the General Assembly in January.

ISBE requires each person wishing to testify to complete a feedback form at www.isbe.net/budget beforehand, including a funding request for FY 2021. In FY 2020, the General Assembly approved $375 million in the Evidence-Based Funding Formula -- a $25 million increase above the minimum, which was the amount allocated in FY 2019.

If you’re a district that benefits from EBF, we hope you can attend one of these hearings and be an advocate for increased EBF. These meetings truly are an important cog in the school funding process.
